New Family Guide

What to expect, what your Scout needs, how meetings work, and where parents fit in.

Your First Visit

You do not need to know anything about Scouting before you visit. Come to a Tuesday meeting, meet your den, and see what the Pack is doing.

For a first visit
Comfortable clothes and a willingness to join in are enough. We can explain uniforms and handbooks after you see the Pack.

How Cub Scouts Works

Scouts are grouped into dens by school grade. Each den works on grade-specific Adventures, and the Pack brings everyone together for larger activities, celebrations, service, and family events.

Scouting America describes advancement as progress toward the badge of rank for each grade, with Adventures covering topics such as hiking, nature, science, citizenship, first aid, sports, and more.

Join the Pack’s private Facebook group and watch Facebook Messenger for updates.

Keep Adam’s phone number and email handy for questions.

Ask about uniform pieces
Families do not need to have everything on day one. Ask what your Scout needs for their rank.

Know what happens at home
Some requirements are completed at home with family help. Parents should communicate progress to leaders.

Mark Pack dates
Use the Pack calendar and signups so important activities do not get missed.

Every family can help in some way, even if it is not a major leadership role.
